ArtsView Children’s Theatre would like to introduce the winners of our 2012 Playwright Contest! Each year, we ask for original works to be submitted by entrants, ages kindergarten to adult. The setting for this year’s theme, MISSION POSSIBLE: Overcoming Obstacles & Adversity, is in the family context. The winning plays will be brought to life by participants in our Original Works camp, receiving either fully staged productions or staged readings, and will premiere to the public this summer!
Performances are July 27th at 7:00pm and July 28th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.

Nikki Share! by Tyaunna Williams
Tyaunna is an eight-year-old 2nd grader who attends Pine Tree Elementary School. This is her debut experience with play writing and children’s theatre. In her free time she enjoys playing her Wii games, DS games, singing and dancing. Tyaunna dedicates this show to her friends Ashley and Holly, and wants to thank her Mom and Miss Tamara for supporting her and encouraging her.
A Valuable Lesson by Tucker Sparkman

Tucker is excited to be a winner with his first foray into play writing! Tucker is about to start the 4th grade at Elkhart Intermediate School and enjoys swimming, fishing, and pestering his younger siblings. As a performer, Tucker has been seen in school plays “This is America” and “Pirates’ Christmas”. He was last seen onstage as a special guest conductor on the Howard Payne University Symphonic Band Tour. His favorite plays are “Cats” and “Into the Woods”. “Special thanks to Mom for being awesome and to Dad for helping to teach me about theatre.”
Mega Sized Problems by Elijah Bump
Elijah loves creative endeavors of all kinds. He has been acting since age seven, singing most of his life, and is the youngest of four children. Some of his hobbies include Legos, cooking, drawing, and dancing. This is his fourth play to be featured in ArtsView’s Original Works camp. Elijah plays piano and is home educated. loves spending time with friends.
Alone in the Dark by Caroline Bump
Caroline has been actively involved in all aspects of theater since age eleven. Acting has always been her passion, but she also enjoys the technical side of theater. Caroline has many hobbies including playwrighting. Five of her ten-minute plays have been performed in ArtsView’s Original Works camp over the years. Caroline is a pianist of over ten years, takes photo shoots with her friends, and choreographs sword fights for fun.
I’ll Take Care of You by Shane Strawbridge
Shane is a professional actor and playwright whose work has been seen throughout Texas, Nebraska, and Chicago. His performances have been recognized by The Column Awards and TheaterJones.com. Shane is a currently pursuing his Master’s degree at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas and is an elementary theatre teacher for Irving ISD.
Learning to Swim by Matt Hanf
Matt is a high school teacher in Elk Grove, CA, a small suburb of Walmart. He has produced plays both nationally and internationally and is honored to collaborate with Artsview and the talented actors who participate in this camp. He would like to thank his wife, without whom there be no funny lines in this play and his children who remind him that “you may be a nationally and internationally produced playwright but you still can’t break a 25 at Wii bowling.”
